Note: I am updating this post on an ongoing basis with links to the qualifying reviews.
It is a new reading year, which means it is time to make bookish New Year’s Resolutions, and sign up for a few of those fun blogosphere reading challenges. My husband tells me they aren’t new year’s resolutions if I don’t start January 1st, but I’d rather be late to the party than miss out! I’ve set my GoodReads reading meter for 100 books which should be achievable while still allowing time for vacations.
First off, I will be participating in the 2013 Eclectic Reader challenged hosted by Book’d Out. I’m a fairly eclectic reader to begin with, but romantic suspense, new adult and action adventure will all be beyond the usual. I’m also looking forward to tracking down a historical mystery, since I don’t generally mix these genres. The other challenge categories include: translated fiction, urban fantasy, dystopian, memoir, LGBT, humour, published in 2013 and made into a movie. If you have any suggested reads for any of these categories, feel free to leave them below!
Speaking of books being made into movies, I will also be joining in the 2013 Book to Movie Challenge hosted by Doing Dewey. I’ll be aiming for the Movie Devotee category of reading six books and watching their corresponding film adaptations. Books are my first love, but I did also spend four years working in a video store, so film is also near to my heart. Suggestions are welcome, along with tips on which 2013 releases are based on books.
You may also have noticed the new request-a-review page that appeared on the site this week. Up to this point, I have been writing about my leisure reading, but starting next month, I am planning to accept review requests. I’m currently formulating my review policy, so any tips from other book bloggers would be welcome. What do you wish you had known when you started accepting requests, or what should you have included in your review policies? Help me get started on the right foot.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy reading year ahead! What are your reading resolutions?
