About

I’m a Canadian librarian and book blogger living in Washington State with my spouse, our cats, and a lot of books. I started blogging in 2012 after my partner and I moved to the Seattle area for his job, while I was (not so) patiently waiting for a work visa. I like books so much I got not one but two degrees in them;  a BA in English (UNBC, 2010), and an MLIS (UAlberta, 2012). When I’m not reading, I enjoy yoga, baking, long walks, and book-to-film adaptations. I returned to library work in 2015, but by then I liked book blogging so much I decided to keep at it. After a stint in the public library world, these days I work in a corporate library with a focus on business, technology, and legal information.

New posts usually go up on Tuesdays, featuring a mix of fiction and non-fiction posts. You can get updates on new posts by subscribing by email in the footer at the bottom of this page, or by following Required Reading on Twitter. You can also find me on Goodreads or Storygraph. I read eclectically, but you’ll find lots of Speculative Fiction and Young Adult here, as well as plenty of Canadian titles, and LGBTQIA+ books.
